Loewenherz Railway Park was created in 1982 not only as an open-space park for the residents and visitors of the spa town Bad Niedrigsrode but also as an open-air exhibition space for railway artifacts from around the world. In addition to permanent exhibits, there are occassional revolving exhibits. Here are our past and coming exhibitions.
Permanent Exhibition “World High Speed Rail Records: Past and Present”
Since the invention of rail travel in the mid-1800s, speed has been a key factor in movement of goods and people. The Park exhibits two icons of high-speed rail record-holders: the steam locomotive record holder LNER A4 Class “Mallard” 4468, reaching 126mph (203km/h) on 3rd July 1938 and Thalys PBKA. The Thalys PBKA trainset is the same trainset as the world high speed record holder SNCF TGV V150 4402 which reached 574 km/h on 3rd April 2007.
Thank you National Railway Museum York, UK and Thalys/SNCB (Jimmy Low) for the loan.

Special Exhibition 06/2022 “Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquat Message Wagons”
Keith Allen Haring was an American artist whose pop art emerged from the New York City graffiti subculture of the 1980s. His animated imagery has “become a widely recognized visual language”. Jean-Michel Basquiat was an American artist who rose to success during the 1980s as part of the Neo-expressionism movement. (Source: Wikipedia).
Märklin produces limited pieces of these message wagons from time to time. The Loewenherz Railway Park is proud to exhibit these masterpieces in 2022. Thank you Peter Fuchs for loaning us his collection.

Special Exhibition 06/2022 “Märklin 2022 Donation Initiative “Frieden in Europa (Peace in Europe)”
The Russian-Ukraine conflict in early 2022, which turned into a war, resulted in thousands of refugees and asylum seekers leaving Ukraine overnight. Neighbouring EU countries took the initiatives to transport them by rail and buses.
Märklin initiated a donation drive by producing 2500 pieces of a 2nd class passenger car in Ukraine flag blue/yellow and white peace dove livery. The Park supported this initiative by holding a special exhibition of a donation passenger car. Thank you Märklin (Jimmy Low) for the loan.
