The Largest and Complete Collection of RailAdventure H0-scale Models in Europe
Between Peter Fuchs and myself, we own the largest collection of RailAdventure H0-scale (1:87) alternating current (AC) models in Germany and probably anywhere in Europe. All the commercial ready-to-run models from Piko Baureihe 103 to the latest Rivarossi Luxon panoramic dome car. We also have custom-made Sfps barrier wagons in H0-scale as well as various 3D-printed Loco Buggies and special coupling adapters.

Our collection is not limited to H0-scale but also include OO-scale (1:76) running on 16.5mm track. These are British scale; thus, allowing us to own Hornby RailAdventure UK HST Class 43 power cars and Heljan Sfps barrier wagons.
The Concept: MIST-61 RailAdventure (RADVE) Zughotel Module
With such a large collection, we need our own module to stage our models during our quarterly MIST-61 operating sessions. Peter is our layout master planer and a huge fan of RailAdventure like myself. We spoke about building a 4-meter long module consisting of 4 x 1.08m long segments and modelling after the RailAdventure’s Zughotel in Braunschweig, Germany. Google Maps helps us to visualise how we want our RADVE module to look like. Of course, we have to compress some elements while retaining some visible features of Zughotel and the surrounding area.
Zughotel is located north of Braunschweig central railway station, at the site of former DB Regio Braunschweig maintenance facility. Three mainline tracks run along the facility – two towards Wolfsburg and one to DB Cargo freight shunting facility.

The Zughotel workshop (B) consists of 2 through tracks and 1 stub track. The stub track houses the VT 11.5 TEE power car and 3 trailing coaches, which are used as conferencing and meeting facilities for RailAdventure customers.

South side of the facility (A) consists of 2 stabling tracks and 1 through track that allows the Habfis and Sfps barrier wagons bypass the facility to the south side without encroaching into the mainline during shunting operations.

On the north end near the Braunschweig signalling tower Hbf Ba (C), 2 stabling tracks are available.

The Track Plan
Peter and I chose the key elements that we want to include in our MIST-61 RADVE module to capture the essence of Zughotel and maintenance facility. The result of Peter’s track plan looks like this:

The construction will only start in 2026 as I would like to finish my Loewenherz module and spend more time thinking about how to scratchbuild the maintenance building.
Stay tuned and follow us!
