I joined the Märklin Insider Stammtisch 61 group early 2022 and participated in their quarterly operating session in April without my own modules and from June with my own Loewenherz modules.
Märklin Insider Stammtisch (MIST) 61, Hochtaunus
MIST 61 made up of ca. 30 Märklin modellers of all ages residing in Hochtaunus district near Frankfurt/Main. The 61 is the prefix of our postcode (61xxx) where majority of the modellers reside. Compared to some other MIST, we are not a club or association, which in Germany requires registration and all those formalities of electing an executive committee, collecting fees, etc. Therefore, we are a gathering of Märklin modellers who meet up monthly for “Stammtisch” (regular table) and quarterly for our “Modulfahrtage”(operating session). Joining the group is through voting-in by majority of the modellers.

Modellers can run any model trains on the layout as long as they are (a) AC system – need not be Märklin models, and (b) digital – the layout run on centralised control with handheld devices. Modellers need not have modules in order to participate. Module setup is up to individual modellers as long as each module conforms to the group standards for compatibility and smooth operations. The word is FUN – as long as we have fun together.
How Does It Work?
MIST-61 rents a multipurpose hall (18m x 12.5m; usable space for layout 16m x 8m) for the weekend session (always on Saturday and Sunday, setup on Friday afternoon). The number of modules exhibited depends on registered participation and available space. Our master layout planner will draft the layout plan and determine which modules will be included in each session. Participants will offer their suggestions and confirm the final plan.
