Exploring Other Facet: Sound and Automation with Arduino

I need a “break” from the usual run-the-trains session and move to another facet of the hobby that I have “fear” to explore. This time it is dealing with electronics and electrical stuff. Eventually, what you fear the most will catch up with you.

So, it is time to encounter the “fear” and starting learning electronics. Raspberry Pi. Arduino and the likes have been around for many years. For example, Arduino is 20 this March. So, it is a good opportune time for me to pick up an Elegoo starter set and learn some programming and prototyping with electronics. I must say, I found an excellent “teacher” in Paul McWhorter, who produced excellent Arduino tutorials and explained the concepts so well that anyone who has no prior experience with Arduino, programming or electronics can easily start.

Yes, I programmed my first blinking LED!

Of course my Arduino projects will revolve around model railroading. There are more than enough ideas what I want to create and implement on my Loewenherz module as well as future layout. Since starting with Arduino, I began looking underneath others’ layout, how they wired theirs.

I have created a separate page called Arduino x Trains to document my projects.
