Loewenherz Railway Park was conceptualised as an open-space park with various railway exhibits from all around the world. As the visible sections of the park is being completed on my modules, I am preparing for the quiet winter period; something I could do in my cosy living room.

Each module is defined to 3 work sections so that I could focus rather than trying to do too much at one go. In total 6 sections over the 2 modules of Loewenherz. 2 more sections to be before the next MIST-61 operating session end of November 2023.

Unboxing Revell Express Locomotive Baureihe (Class) 01 Kit

Revell has 3 steam locomotive 1:87 model kits: German BR 01 (set no. 02172), BR 02 (set no. 02171), BR 03 (set. no. 02166) and US Big Boy (set no. 02165) locomotives.

This is my first Revell model kit and my first attempt to work on such model kits (I think I might have some model kits when I was young). Of the 4 model kits, I chose Baureihe 01 as it was the first standard steam locomotive following the amalgamation of various German state railways in the 1920s. At least two working BR 01 locomotives still exist today.

BR 01 2066-7(top) and BR 01 066 (above), both owned by Bayerisches Eisenbahnmuseum were sighted at Meiningen Steam Locomotives Days and Märklin Days respectlvely in September 2023.

I have taken a few close-up photos that will make good references for weathering. I have an idea how I want to build and complete this kit. Stay tuned for updates.
